Born From Love

Green Lantern Pizza was founded in 1985 by the Rossi family — Italian immigrants who arrived in Michigan with nothing but a cherished recipe and an unshakeable belief that great pizza could bring people together.

What started as a small corner shop on 12 Mile Road has grown into Berkley's most beloved pizza destination. We hand-toss every dough, source ingredients from local Michigan farms, and fire our pizzas in stone deck ovens that have been seasoned over four decades of service.

From a small family kitchen to Berkley's most beloved pizzeria — here's how we've grown.

1985

The First Slice

Antonio and Maria Rossi open a 12-seat pizzeria on 12 Mile Road, serving a single original recipe passed down from Napoli, Italy.

1992

First Expansion

Growing demand leads to a full restaurant renovation, doubling seating capacity and introducing the signature stone deck ovens that still fire our pizzas today.

1999

Community Award

Named "Best Pizza in Oakland County" by the Detroit Free Press — a recognition that put Green Lantern Pizza on the regional map and tripled weekend traffic overnight.

2005

Next Generation

Marco Rossi — grandson of the founders — joins as Head Chef, blending family tradition with modern culinary techniques and introducing seasonal specialty pizzas.

2012

Farm-to-Table Partnership

We establish direct partnerships with five local Michigan farms, committing to 100% locally sourced vegetables, herbs, and artisan cheeses year-round.

2019

Online Ordering Launched

We bring Green Lantern Pizza into the digital age with online ordering and delivery, making our handcrafted pizzas accessible across greater Berkley and beyond.

2024

Franchise Program

Launched a franchise opportunity program to bring the Green Lantern Pizza experience to pizza lovers across Michigan and neighboring states.

Head Chef & Owner

Third-generation pizzaiolo who trained in Naples before returning to carry on the family legacy. Marco's passion for craft is the soul of every pizza we make.

Sofia Martinez

Sous Chef

A Culinary Institute graduate with a flair for seasonal flavors. Sofia oversees our specialty menu and our farm-to-table ingredient partnerships with local Michigan growers.

James Kowalski

Operations Manager

A Berkley native with 15 years of restaurant operations experience. James ensures every guest experience — dine-in, takeout, or delivery — meets our uncompromising standards.
